When the John Deere name was added to Samuelson Lumber Company back in 1911, no one knew what would take place in the years to come. Bill Samuelson, grandfather of the current owner and manager, Dick Samuelson, founded the operation. In the beginning, the focus was on lumber and hardware. However, with the addition of farm equipment, the lumber side of the business faded away, and the focus turned to agriculture. Ivor Samuelson joined the company in 1930 and was an active owner/manager until he turned the duties over to his son, Dick Samuelson, in 1975. In 1976, a new building was built in Trumbull. In 1987 the company relocated to Hastings where it was formerly Z&Z Equipment.

Samuelson Equipment Company started in 1905 as a lumber/hardware company in Trumbull, NE. In 1911, John Deere equipment was incorporated into the product line. Since then, the main store was moved to Hastings in 1987. The Red Cloud location, was the latest addition in 1994.
